Standard Lip and Tape Bags

Measure everything that will go inside the bag together. A greeting card with an envelope, a print with a backing board, or a bundled product needs more room than the main item alone.

• Measure the full arrangement: Include envelopes, backing cards, mounts, inserts, and bundled pieces.
• Account for thickness: Allow enough clearance to load the package without stretching the film or forcing the seams.
• Check usable dimensions: Confirm how the product listing measures bag length and whether the flap is excluded.
• Leave room to close: The flap should reach its sealing position without pulling tightly against the contents.

Use the bag sizing chart above as a starting point, then review the selected product's measurement notes. A sample fit check is especially helpful when packaging rigid backing boards or several items together.

1. Prepare the product and any inserts before opening the bag.
2. Insert the complete package while leaving the adhesive release liner in place.
3. Position the contents clear of the sealing area, then remove the release liner.
4. Fold the flap into position and press evenly along the adhesive strip.

Keeping the liner in place until the product is positioned helps reduce accidental adhesive contact. If the flap will not close comfortably or the film pulls tightly around corners, reassess the bag size before continuing production.

Review the film material, thickness, closure specification, and pack quantity for each product. This collection includes clear-film options such as BOPP, but individual specifications should guide your selection.

Thickness is measured in mils; it is not a universal weight-capacity rating. Consider product weight, rigid corners, surface texture, and handling alongside thickness. An appropriately sized bag should load easily and close without placing unnecessary tension on the film.

Standard lip and tape bags provide a clear retail presentation for cards, prints, and similar paper products. Include any envelope, backing board, or protective insert when choosing dimensions, and keep artwork away from the adhesive during packing and removal.

If the bag will be used for long-term preservation rather than retail presentation, confirm the selected product's material and archival specifications before purchasing. Do not assume every clear bag offers the same preservation properties.

Check the closure specification for the selected item. “Self-sealing” means the bag has an integrated adhesive closure; it does not, by itself, confirm repeated resealability or tamper-evident performance.

If your workflow involves opening a bag for inspection, adding an insert later, or allowing customers to reopen the package, confirm that requirement before ordering and include it in your sample testing.

Start with the unit of sale shown on the product listing. For example, an item marked “100 / Pack” contains 100 bags per pack, so an order for five packs provides 500 bags.

To compare packaging costs, divide the applicable pack price by the number of bags in that pack. Then consider your expected usage and available storage when choosing among quantity-price tiers.

Pack counts and price breaks vary by item. Confirm both before placing an order, and retain the product number for easier repeat purchasing.
